The M.A. in Community Counseling prepares students for licensure as Professional Counselors or Clinical Counselors
Graduates work in a wide variety of community agencies, government mental health services, hospitals and clinics, or private practices. Community Counselors provide treatment for clients with mental and emotional disorders, substance abuse, family and couple difficulties, career development, and rehabilitation needs.
Of Special Interest:
Nationally accredited by CACREP. Meets requirements for licensure in most states. A faculty advisor is assigned to assist each student.
Curriculum Information:
Master’s degree is 48 semester hours. Licensure in Ohio requires 60 semester hours.
Admissions:
Applications are processed in the College of Graduate Studies on the MAIN campus. Applications are processed on a first in first out basis. Processing within the College of Graduate Studies takes approximately 5-7 business days once a complete application is received. Once the application is processed it is sent to the department for review. Each department maintains their own internal admissions timeline. Completed application materials should be received by September 15‚ January 15‚ or May 15 to ensure enough time for review prior to scheduling interviews. Late applications may still be considered only if time permits.
